"Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample. (For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.)"
Philippians 3:17-19
We have already seen Jesus preaching division when He demanded that we love Him more than mother, father, brother, sister, and other members of our earthly family. He even went so far as to say, "I did not come to bring peace, but a sword." Now, here we have Paul advising us to mark people who are defined as "enemies of the cross." Listen, many of these people are found in the church, and can only be seen clearly should you dare to lift up the carpet. That's where you'll find the dirt! Paul is weeping over what he knows, sees, and hears. Listen up, some are weeping today over the same thing! Some things within the church have not changed. These folks are here and in abundance within the professing body of Christ. They are centered on earthy things and filling their own bellies. Isn't it amazing how many professing Christians are caught up in a religion today which promises them earthly things and flesly fulfillments, rather than a cross.
