"Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. And a man's foes shall be they of his own household. He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me."
Matthew 10:34-38
Wow, did you read this? Could such a statement possibly have come from the lips of Jesus Christ? Where can this Jesus be found in the church today? Does such a Jesus really exist? This Jesus seems to be totally absent from today's pulpits and pews. Jesus actually said, "don't think I come to send peace on earth." What do we hear about at Christmas, as well as 364 more days of the year about Jesus? I thought He was defined as the "Prince of Peace?" Jesus came to bring man back into a peaceful relationship with God, He came to bring peace to the human heart which is "deceitfully wicked." Jesus brings peace of heart and peace of mind to those who will truly follow Him. He brought division between righteousness and unrighteosness. He brought the promise of eternal separation and judgment for those who reject His way. Jesus did not come to bring peace to the world, but to the human heart. Many have experienced the peace which He brought and promised. The world will never have peace without Christ. There is a great gulf of division between Light and darkness. When Christ comes again, He will bring and establish peace around the world. How will He do that? With a "rod of iron."
