THE DAILY CROSS
But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.
Galatians 6:14
It all begins and ends at the cross. The cross is an instrument of death. Jesus met death at the cross and then proceeded to demonstrate His power over it. Victory over sin and death was won at the cross, it was sealed when Jesus breathed His last words upon it. What does it mean to you and me? It's essential for the Christian to visit the cross just as Jesus did. "Those who would come after Me, let him take up his cross." God has a cross for all of us to bear in this world. In coming to the cross we die to the world, we crucify the desires of the flesh, we suffer as Christ suffered, and we testify to a newness of life. I am now dead to the world, and alive to Christ. I was crucified with Him. The world has nothing to offer me; this body of death has nothing to offer me. I've been buried and raised in Him to spiritual life. I glory on in what Christ accomplished at the cross. Sin was defeated, death was destroyed. I have eternal life and victory over sin in Christ through what He won at Calvary.
